Jesus Christ stood alone against injustice and sacrifice, offering the world redemption. Jean-
Jacques Dessalines, against impossible odds, led enslaved men and women to victory, breaking
the chains of colonial oppression and founding the first Black republic. Countless others
throughout history stood when it was easier to remain silent—and in doing so, they shaped the
destiny of nations.
Today, Haiti calls upon her sons and daughters to do the same. To stand for justice. To stand for
